The script written by Andrzej Gołda is based on a true story set in the 50s, when the serial killer Władysław Mazurkiewicz terrorised Krakow. This handsome, elegant playboy murderer went unpunished for a very long time until he met his match in the young militia detective Karski, who brought him to justice.
"For us the story of Władysław Mazurkiewicz, who was suspected of 30 murders and is probably the most famous killer in the post-war crime history of Poland, is a way to travel in time and to say something about these times as well as the man who was tracking him down and who was changed by this investigation", Krzysztof Lang told FNE.
The film stars Andrzej Chyra and Tomasz Schuchardt. They are accompanied by popular Polish actors such as Bogusław Linda, Katarzyna Warnke, Arkadiusz Jakubik, Andrzej Grabowski, Karolina Gruszka, Ireneusz Czop, Izabela Kuna, Katarzyna Figura and Jerzy Trela.
The film is produced by Studio Produkcyjne Orka and Monolith Films in coproduction with the Krakow Festival Office and Tea for Two. The budget was 1.3 m EUR / 5.3 m PLN, of which 470,877 EUR / 2 m PLN was covered by a production grant from the Polish Film Institute. The Krakow Regional Film Fund is also supporting.
The film was shot in Krakow in November 2016 and will be domestically released by Monolith Films on 20 October 2017.
