Polish composer lands at City Island

By Katarzyna Grynienko
Jan A.P Kaczmarek, the Oscar winner who wrote the music for Finding Neverland, will be composing the score for City Island, a new movie starring Andy Garcia.
The new movie from Raymond De Felitta is an international co-production with a significant financing from Poland. Gremi Film Production (www.gremifilm.pl), represented by Grzegorz Hajdarowicz, is providing 31.25 % of the not yet finalized budget, the highest input among the co-producers of the film including CineSon Productions (www.cineson.com), Lucky Monkey Pictures (http://lversel2.hypermart.net) and Medici Entertainment (www.medicientertainment.com). Gremi Film Production is dynamically expanding its activity on the international market by investing in big productions such as Peter Greenaway's Nightwatching and Carmo, a Polish-Spanish-Brazillian co-production from Murilo Pasta.

Gremi Film Production announced that Kaczmarek will work on this score in Warsaw at the Polish Radio Studio, which increases the Polish input in this production. The Polish composer is the author of over 30 music scores for both feature and documentary films such as Total Eclipse from Agnieszka Holland, Quo Vadis from Jerzy Kawalerowicz, and Adrian Lane's Unfaithful.

City Island (www.citysilandmovie.com), a comedy-drama about family secrets and the haunting past of a prison guard played by Garcia, filmed in August in New York. The international premiere of the picture is planned for the second half of 2009 and the sales of the title are going to be handled by West End Films (www.westendfilms.com).
