Sweet Rush directed Adrzej Wajda:Supported by PISF

    Sweet Rush (Polish: Tatarak), directed by the acclaimed Andrzej Wajda, is partly based on a short story by Polish writer Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz. Wajda previously made three films based on Iwaszkiewicz's stories: The Birch Wood, The Young Ladies of Wilko, and the TV movie Noc czerwcowa (June Night).

     

    Screened in Berlin in 2009 in competition where it was awarded the Alfred Bauer prize

    The film's budget was 6.5 million złotys (€1.4 million) with PLN 2.6 million from the Polish Film Institute. The film script is by the well-recognised Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk and its cinematography is by Pawel Edelman. The cast also includes Jadwiga Jankowska-Cieślak, Julia Pietrucha and Roma Gasiorowska. The film score is by the heralded young Polish composer, Paweł Mykietyn.

    Synopis:

    A middle aged woman, Marta, played by Krsytyna Janda doesn't know she is dying. She is the wife of a small town doctor but one day she meets and becomes fascinated by a much younger man and they fall in love. Ironically the younger man dies sooner and Marta is the one left behind.
