Gdynia Polish Film Festival Competition spotlight: Tomorrow Will be Better

    Dorota Kędzierzawska's Gdynia competition film Tomorrow Will be Better tells the story of three homeless Russian boys who travel to Poland in search of a better life, with the universal hope that life is different and better somewhere else.

    {mosimage}Kędzierzawska's film Time To Die (2007) was awarded locally with two Polish Acdemy Eagles (www.pnf.pl) for the Best Script and Best Montage as well as internationally including awards for the Best Film during 2009 IFEMA in Malmo (www.femalefilmfestival.se), Best Film and Audience Prize at the 2009 IFF in Trieste (www.triestefilmfestival.it) and the Chris Holter Award at the 2008 IFF in San Franscisco www.fest08.sffs.org). Kędzierzawska is known for her fusion of moving topics and warm humor in the scripts executed with attention to detail and aesthetic sensitvity.

    Tomorrow Will Be Better was shot in August and September of 2008 on location in Sulwaszczyzna, Białostoczyzna, Aleksandrów Kujawski and Toruń. The producer of the picture is KID Film, a company created by Kędzierzawska and Arthur Reinhart, in co-production with Pioniwa Film Inc (www.pioniwa.com), TheChimney Pot (www.chimney.pl), Non Stop Film Services (www.nsfs.pl) and Film Ilumination (www.filmilumination.pl). The budget of the film was 3 million PLN with 2 million PLN from the Polish Film Insitute (www.pisf.pl).
