Gutek Film Launches Distribution Company for Children's Films

    WARSAW: Polish distributor Gutek Film is entering the market with a series quality animated films under newly created Maly Gutek brand, the first of its kind in Poland. The films will screen in Polish cinemas and have a DVD release.

    Gutek Film (www.gutekfilm.pl) founded by Roman Gutek is known for providing challenging film productions for the Polish market. The Maly Gutek (www.malygutek.pl) films will be chosen for their graphic quality, original and smart stories, and recognition at international film festivals.

    The first three titles in the series are all European productions. The French-Italian Mia et le Migou, directed by Jacques-Rémy Girerd and produced by Folimage (www.folimage.fr) will open in Poland on 26 November, followed by The Secret of Kells by Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey (Cartoon Saloon, www.cartoonsaloon.ie) and U by Grégoire Solotareff and Serge Elissalde (Prima Linea, www.primalinea.com).

    Gutek Film was established in 1994 and has theatrically distributed over 200 films with a total number of 8 million viewers. The company introduced the films of Peter Greenaway, Pedro Almodovar, Lars von Trier, Mike Leigh, Jim Jarmusch, Derek Jarman, Park Chan-wook, Paul Cox and Wong Kar-Wai to Polish audiences. It also manages Muranów Cinema in Warsaw, which was chosen as the best of the EUROPA CINEMAS in 2004.
