The main character is a 17-year-old Polish girl, who must travel to Ireland to bring home the body of her father after he dies in a construction accident there. While there, she digs into her father’s life in Ireland, discovering he had a mistress there, eventually returning to Poland with her father’s ashes and hijacking a hearse to have one final trip with her father.
The 1.3 m EUR film has 550,000 EUR in place, with support from the Polish Film Institute and the Mazovia Film Fund. Kwiecinski told FNE he expects to have funding completed by the beginning of 2019.
The producers have confirmed an Irish coproduction company, MK1 Productions, and are in negotiations with a second Polish regional film fund and a TV broadcaster.
Filming is planned for the spring of 2019.
