The title character is a 58-year-old midwife engulfed in spiraling debt and facing a nervous breakdown, who tries to rob a bank. She ends up in a psychiatric hospital, after an attempted suicide, gaining a new perspective on her life. The script, also by Jadowska, was inspired by real events.
The film has a budget of 1.1 m EUR and has received the Stockholm IFF Impact Award production grant, with 50,000 EUR now in place. The production also has 40,000 EUR of in-kind funding. The producers are seeking minority Scandinavian and German coproducers, with post-production planned to take place in Germany. The second draft of the script is being completed and shooting is planned for the second half of 2019, in Poland.
Jadowska’s previous films have screened in Berlin, Cannes and Cottbus, winning the Best Film award at Cottbus 2017.
