By FNE Staff

CANNES: Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan won a coveted Cannes competition slot with his film Once Upon a Time in Anatolya (Bir Zamanlar Andolu'da), as did expat Romanian director Radu Mihaileanu with The Source (La Source des Femmes).

Proving that Romanian films are still a hot ticket on the international circuit, Catalin Mitulescu (winner of the 2004 Short Film Palme d'or) locked up a slot in Un Certain Regard with Loverboy.

Prague's FAMU is the lone CEE film school represented in the Cinefondation 2011 selection of school shorts, with Cagey Tigers.

The Cinefondation Atelier's 15 projects include one each from Georgia:, Khibula by George Ovashvili; Hungary: Hier by Balint Kenyeres; Romania: Wolf by Bogdan Mustata; and Turkey: Kings by Deniz Erguven.

A list of short films competition will be announced on 18 April 2011.
