Born in 1967, Oana Ioachim started her theatre career before moving into film. She had a small part in Costa-Gavras's Amen (2002), but her involvement in the new wave Romanian cinema started in 2007 when Radu Jude cast her in his award winning short film Alexandra. She also played in Andrei Gruzsniczki's debut feature The Other Irina / Cealaltă Irina (Fundatia Arte Vizuale, 2009).
In 2014 she and her husband Răzvan Săvescu co-wrote the comedy America, Here We Come!/America, venim! (Libra Film), where she also played a part. The comedy was a hit in 2014, racking up 14,257 admissions in the first weekend. Its producer, Tudor Giurgiu, announced then that a sequel would follow.
