By Iulia Blaga

Romanian director Andrei Zincă is in preparation to film Puzzle for a Blind Man, an adaptation of Argentinian playwright Mario Diament's Blind Date for Castel Film Studios.

Vlad Păunescu, the general manager of Castel Film Studios (www.castelfilm.ro), told FNE that he hopes to have a co-production between Romania, USA, Austria, and France.

The shooting is due to start in October, and the Romanian co-producer is hoping to convince two American film stars to play the main characters. "Without two major Hollywood stars we won't start the film," Păunescu says.

The film will be shot on location in Sibiu (Romania), Paris, and Vienna. Zincă left Romania during the communist regime to work in South America and the United States. Recently, he returned to Bucharest as the director of La Urgenţă, a local ER type TV series.

Puzzle for a Blind Man received a €350,000 grant from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) in 2008.
