Slovaks organize media complex

By Jana Kadlecova
The Slovak government has approved the construction of a new media complex in Bratislava, housing the three state-supported public media institutions.

Slovak radio (www.slovakradio.sk), Slovak television (www.stv.sk) and most probably the Press Agency of the Slovak Republic TASR (www.tasr.sk) will work together under one roof.

The project will be built as a public-private partnership. The Ministry of Culture claims this will reduce the cost of the construction by 3.65%.

The new complex will be located near the Slovak National Theatre and construction should last 3 years. The private partner will run the complex for a 25-year term. The estimated cost is 138 million Euro.

The current building of STV will be sold and the SRO building, the so-called Pyramid, will be used as a gallery of modern art and an archive for the public media institutions.
