PRODUCTION: My Name Is Janez Jansa in Postproduction

{mosimage}LJUBLJANA: Slovenian conceptual artist and performer Janez Jansa is in final post-production on a 67 minute HD documentary on names and identity, focusing on the case of himself and two other Slovenian artists who five years ago officially changed their names to that of the prime minister of that time, Janez Jansa, when they joined the conservative Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS).

"This made me reflect on issues such as identity vs identification, multiplicity vs multiplication, the name as an interface between the private and the public, and the personal name as a brand," the director said in a statement. My Name Is Janez Janša (www.mynameisjanezjansa.com) is based on the story of the three artists, Janez Janša, Janez Janša and Janez Janša, with the script written by Janez Janša and Janez Janša.

The documentary features various internationally known names, such as UBERMORGEN.COM, Vuk Ćosić, Franco and Eva Mattes, Jan Fabre, Stephen Kovats, Tim Etchells, Vaginal Davis, Mladen Dolar, and, of course, Janez Janša, Janez Janša and Janez Janša. The film is produced by Marcela Okretič together with Aksioma - Institute for Contemporary Art, Ljubljana (www.aksioma.org), in co-production with TV Slovenia (www.rtvslo.si) and Institute Maska (www.maska.si). The Italian POPCult (www.popcultdocs.com), Emotionfilm (www.emotionfilm.si), ARTREBEL9 / Teleking (www.artrebel9.com/postproduction/teleking) are associate producers. The Slovenian Film Center (www.film-center.si) and Viba Film (www.vibafilm.si) are partners of the project.

"We shot on different occasions from January to December 2011, and the premiere is set for 2012, but the date is still not clear," Okretič told FNE.

The low-budget production is still seeking some 5,000 Euro to clomplete postproduction. Public donations are being accepted on the film's website (www.mynameisjanezjansa.com) until 26 May.
