TREBON, CZECH REPUBLIC: Slovenian student director Katarina Morano is the lone representative from CEE to be nominated for the Student Academy Awards, which will be announced on June 7 in Hollywood.

Morano was nominated for her film Kam, one of 10 films nominated in the foreign film category. The nomination caps a particularly strong year in Slovenian filmmaking and is the third Slovenian nomination in the past seven years.

Kam (Where To), Morano's third film, is the story of a chance meeting between a young woman and an old woman, each one dealing with life and death in her own way. Morano also wrote the script for the 20 minute film.
The film is a production of the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljanaand coproduced by Slovenian public broadcaster RVTSLO.

The student Oscars are seen as a harbinger for professional filmmaking accomplishment, and former nominees include Oscar winner Jan Sverak from the Czech Republic.
