Adana Golden Boll FF: Velvet

    Velvet directed by Erdogan Kar has its world premiere in the Turkish national competition at the Golden Boll Film Festival in Adana (17-25 September 2011, www.goldenbollfilmfestival.com).

    Erdogan Kar is a veteran member of the Turkish film industry. Over the past 40 years he has worked as assistant director on numerous films. Velvet is his third film as a director, following one previous feature film and one documentary. In addition to his film work, he is the head of a cinema school and arts center.

    {mosimage}Velvet is about the war on terrorism going on in the southeastern and eastern region of Turkey. It tells the story of a grandmother who takes her grandson to the west to save him from death.

    The film is the second feature film production by Kar's company Ana Film (www.anafilm.org).
