The market, which will run concurrently with the festival, will be used to promote Turkish films in all stages of production to international sales agents and will be open exclusively to invited agents, festival programmers, and museum film curators.
Organizers noted that Turkish cinema, now some 70 years old, has been producing around a dozen outstanding films each year, especially from younger filmmakers, but the industry has lacked strong publicity and marketing, largely due to inexperience in the international arena. The market will target European territories in particular, with large Turkish immigrant populations.
SE-YAP is actively encouraging producers to submit their films for the market.
