    ADANA: Night of Silence, which screens in the Turkish National Competition of the Golden Boll Film Festival, had its world premiere at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival’s Generation section where it received the Silver Bear award and competed in the 31st Istanbul Film Festival.

    This is the fifth feature film from director Reis Celik, who is also known for his documentaries. His main focus is sociopolitical subjects in Turkey. The cinematographer is Gokhan Tiryaki, recognized for his work on the films of Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

    The movie focuses on the plight of child brides, a common problem in Turkey. Night of Silence looks at the situation where, after a wedding ceremony, we see a bride and an old man on their wedding night. The lead actor is Ilyas Salman who is a popular comedy actor but one who has not performed frequently in last 20 years.
