By Kerem Akca

ISTANBUL: Scapegoat, a slapstick comedy expected to rival the success of the 2009 Turkish box office hit Recep Ivedik (4.5 million admissions), is completing postproduction. A $1 million production by Medya Muhendisi (www.medyamuhendisi.com), Scapegoat is based on a short video clip called ‘Gunah Kecisi' (Scapegoat) that first gained popularity three years ago, about an ex-porn star who wants to change his life and to become a business manager.

{mosimage}The main role is played by real life Turkish porn star Sahin K. The cast also includes cult actors Nuri Alco, Coskun Gogen and Sevtap Parman.

The film is the first to be shot by HD camera Weisscam in Turkey, and features a symphonic orchestra soundtrack.

The producers are Kayahan Nacar and Ceyhun Buyukbese. Nacar said of the film, "We tried to keep the production quality high and to tell a story suitable to popular cinema, but unlike any other Turkish comic films."

{mosimage}The shooting began on 16 October 2010 in Istanbul, Bodrum and Germany. The film will be released on 21 January 2011 which is a holiday period for schools in Turkey.
