Record number of 22 European Academy Award entries scheduled for EFP's LA Screenings

More EFP members than ever have decided to help their national Academy Award entries generate as much attention as possible during the forthcoming awards season in Los Angeles. A record breaking 22 films from across Europe (compared to 14 films in 2013 and 10 in 2012) submitted for consideration as Best Foreign Language Film are scheduled to be showcased at European Film Promotion's LA screening series which is running from October 29 till November 10. Financial support comes from the MEDIA Programme (2007 - 2014) of the European Union and the participating EFP member organizations.

For the first time, Italy will be making use of the special presentation by EFP to international buyers, selected press, Academy members and the LA-based industry as well as the accompanying advertisement campaign. "Istituto Luce Cinecittà is proud to support HUMAN CAPITAL by Paolo Virzì by participating in EFP's European Oscar Screenings in Los Angeles" states Annabella Nucara of Istituto Luce Cinecittà. "We consider this event to be a great opportunity and a significant chance for exposure which will enrich the film's overall Oscar promotional campaign."

For the seventh year running, EFP is presenting a selection of European Academy Award entries with clear potential for US and wide international distribution. These European highlights of the year will include 1001 Grams by Bent Hamer (Norway), Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski (Poland) and Human Capital by Paolo Virzi (Italy). Several films will be presented by attending talent and many have already attracted attention at festivals and been celebrated by critics and audiences before they now enter the Foreign Language Film race at the Academy Awards.

EFP's screenings will be held at the Wilshire Screening Room in Beverly Hills. A record 83 countries have submitted films this year for consideration in the Foreign Language Film category for the 87th Academy Awards. According to EFP's member Miroljub Vučković (Film Cernter Serbia), "European Film Promotion gathers different films and offers them during LA screenings with a clear goal: to attract attention of important individuals who could give their voice in favor of some European film. European films are diverse, but together they can bring, not only the symbolic, value of being different."
