Accompanied by the representatives of 12 projects participating in Ex Oriente Film workshop, all filmmakers will spend five days guided by the most renowned documentary film experts, intensively working on fine-tuning their projects and getting ready for the final public presentations. The conceptions of the projects range from intimate studies unveiling family taboos to reportage-style reflections of the current world conflicts, including the situation in Ukraine. On Saturday, they will all be pitched to the industry professionals (TV, funds, festivals and distribution and production companies’ representatives) from the whole Europe and North America. The project that made the most significant development within the three sessions of Ex Oriente Film will be awarded the traditional Golden Funnel Award and get 1000EUR for its further development. Four more projects will be awarded by Institute of Documentary Film’s partners - representatives of HBO Europe, who will grant the HBO Europe Co-production Award for the first time, or the prestigious European festivals - IDFA, DOK.Leipzig and Docs Barcelona, who will enable the winners to take part in their key industry activities for free. Eventually all participating projects will get to the round tables as well as individual meetings with these decision makers and negotiate support for their documentaries.
