SUCCESS OF BH. FILMS AT THE INDUSTRY PART OF BERLINALE

After the great news that DEATH IN SARAJEVO by Danis Tanović will be competing for Golden Bear, more good news is coming from Berlin.

Feature length project SREBRENICA by Jasmila Žbanić will be presented at Berlinale Co-Production Market, while Marko Šipka will be participating at Doc Station with his feature documentary project THE LAND.

Film SREBRENICA, in financing phase at the moment, deals with massacre in Srebrenica and will center on a story of UN intepretor Hasan Nuhanović, who was stationed in the town in July of 1995. His family was amongst 5,000 civilians joining 25,000 refugees seeking refuge in UN base in Potočari. Nuhanović had to tell them to leave the base, without understanding he is translating their death sentence by doing that.

More than 300 projects applied for Berlinale Co-Production Marketa and only 20 were selected, SREBRENICA amongst them. In Berlin, Žbanić will have an opportunity to meet potential partners from all over the world and compete for one of three awards: Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (20,000 EUR), VFF Highlight Pitch Award (10,000 EUR) i ARTE International Prize (7,000).

Film THE LAND by Marko Šipka is dealing with relationship between a (wo)man and the nature, by telling the story of an old lady who, in remote mountain village, amidst abandoned and broken-down houses, finds harmony in her solitude and nature.

Doc Station is one of the programmes existing as part of Berlinale Talents, summit and networking platform for young and perspective film and television authors from all over the world. This year 2,761 applications from all over the world arrived and only 300 participants were selected; 40 of them for programs for projects development (Script Station, Doc Station, Short Film Station, Talent Project Market).

During the Doc Stationa Šipka will have an opportunity to have one-on-one meetings with two different mentors, prepare his project for presentation, and to meet potential co-producers after the public pitch. For the reminder, this project was already successfully presented as part of Ex Oriente Film program and Zoran Galić, the producer, was awarded EAVE Scholarship then.
