Submissions are now open for connecting cottbus, the East-West co-production
market at the FilmFestival Cottbus on 9-11 November 2022.

The 24th edition of East-West co-production market connecting cottbus (coco) is now
accepting project submissions. Taking place again on-site in Cottbus, while keeping some
online features to remain inclusive, coco remains a platform for the unique filmmakers of the
    wider Eastern Europe.

“We are appalled by the ongoing war in Ukraine and its people are in our thoughts. At coco,
we have formed strong bonds with the country’s film community and we will continue to
support Ukrainian cinema in whichever way we can.”, says coco director Marjorie Bendeck.
“We are also proud to hear the voices of Ukrainian filmmakers loud in the festival circuit.”

BUTTERFLY VISION by Maksym Nakonechnyi (Ukraine/Czechia/Croatia/Sweden) premiered at
Un Certain Regard Cannes 2022 and KLONDIKE by Maryna Er Gorbach (Ukraine/Turkey) at
Sundance 2022, winning the Best Directing Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition.
Both presented at coco in previous editions.

Since the pandemic started, 36 coco alumni projects have been completed and successfully
premiered at festivals, proving how active filmmaking has remained in the region despite
adversity. Upcoming premieres include WOMAN ON THE ROOF by Anna Jadowska (Poland/
France/Sweden) at Tribeca and VESPER by Kristina Buožytė & Bruno Samper (Lithuania/France/
Belgium), BORDERS OF LOVE by Tomasz Wiński (Czechia/Poland) as well as THE WORD by
Beata Parkanová (Czechia/Slovakia/Poland) at Karlovy Vary.

At coco, 13 projects in development (cocoPITCH) and 6 works in progress (cocoWIP) will be
presented on 9-11 November 2022, competing for a variety of sponsored awards.

Producers can submit feature film projects in development (fiction only) for the cocoPITCH
section until 15 July 2022, projects in production or post-production for cocoWIP until 24
August 2022. For both sections projects have to originate in or relate to the wider Eastern
Europe, or be suitable for East-West co-production. The selections will be announced in early
September along with more details on the format of our co-production market.

Producers, sales agents, commissioning editors and other industry representatives can apply
    without a project until 10 October 2022.
