Eastern and Central Europe has a lot to offer when it comes to film and series production aimed at animation and titles for young audiences. ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, CEE Animation Forum, and Young Horizons Industry join forces and invite industry professionals to the webinar “Go East! The International Potential Of The Regional Animated Productions”.
During the webinar we will present the sales and distribution potential of the productions from the region based on an international success of the animated series “Odo” and stop-motion feature “Living Large” scoring numerous sales numbers recently. Agnieszka Kowalewska-Skowron from MOMAKIN will moderate the session with our guests: Anna Głowik, producer from Letko, and Jason Bressand, Head of Sales, Gebeka International, who will walk us through all the steps they need to made to achieved an international distribution and sales success.

The meeting is intended for industry professionals: distributors, sales agents, broadcasters from the region working in the animation business, as well as filmmakers who are looking for tips and inspiration.
The idea to organize the webinar came up from the long-lasting cooperation among ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, CEE Animation Forum, and Young Horizons Industry. Although each of the events has a different focus, the animation and promotion of the region are the factors which bring all those events together. They have been vital places for international film representatives who want to take the step into the world of animation. ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum and CEE Animation Forum are focused on animation and stop motion animation for all target groups, while Young Horizons Industry focuses on animation, live-action, and documentaries for young audiences.
“Odo”
The series aimed at kids aged 3-5 follows the adventures of Odo, the littlest owl at the Forest Camp who is determined to prove that despite his size, he is every bit as capable as all the bigger birds. The series aims to teach young children self-efficacy and to believe in themselves to help combat the alarming rise in anxiety and depression levels in today’s children. Comedic and warm, with a genuine gender-free hero, the stories also deal with important themes such as immigration, racism, respect for others, and show kids how to deal with setbacks in a meaningful way while fostering the development of social skills.
“Odo” is produced by Sixteen South and Letko and co-produced with KiKA and Milkshake! The show has been commissioned with support from the government funded Young Audiences Content Fund (YACF), which is managed by the BFI, Northern Ireland Screen and the Polish Film Institute. The series is also being produced in association with Canal+ and S4C.
The series is distributed globally by Sixteen South Rights who has sold it to more than 120 countries. The series has a licensing partner – Bulldog Licencing, who takes care of the global licensing for the show.
“Living Large”
12-year-old Ben has just hit puberty and suddenly his weight’s a problem – for him and for everyone else. The other kids bully him, his divorced parents don’t know what to do. Even the school nurse is worried about him. So, despite his love of food and his emerging talent as a chef, Ben decides to take drastic action. He starts to diet. Maybe that can turn things round. And even win the heart of Klara, the girl of his dreams... Finally Ben will learn that what truly matters isn’t how you look – it’s how you feel.
“Living Large” is produced by Barletta, Novanima Productions, Novinski. The film directed by Kristina Dufková is an adaptation from the novel “La Vie, En Gros” by Mikaël Ollivier. A screenplay was written by Petr Jarchovský, Anna Vášová, Barbora Dřevikovská.
Film has sold to Klockworx in Japan, Karma Films in Spain, Front Row Entertainment in the Middle East, Cinemundo in Portugal, Garsu Pasaulio Irasai for the Baltics, Demiurg for the former Yugoslavia and Skeye inflight entertainment.

Young Horizons Industry (formerly known as Kids Kino Industry) is an international co-production forum for films and series for young audiences and the industry part of the Young Horizons International Film Festival. Each year, around 300 film professionals come to Poland to exchange ideas, share their experience, and develop new content for young audiences. Young Horizons Industry is a space where we help connect projects with potential co-producers, distributors, sales agents, broadcasters, and film funds.

CEE Animation Forum is the pitching, financing and co-production event focusing on animated projects in development or in production in 4 categories (feature, series/TV special, short and student). It aims to boost the projects´ international potential, visibility and their access to a wider European market. With the growing professional network, the event is building a strong community with the objective to support the projects and to boost circulation of works.
The international platform CEE Animation brings together regional activities for promotion and development of animation and its talents in 18 countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It seeks to increase professional experience, to present the abilities of filmmakers and producers, and improve the quality of content and the visual side of projects. CEE Animation becomes an efficient network, proposing concrete activities and opportunities for connecting and cooperating.
