European Work in Progress Cologne 2024 – First class supporting program promises valuable insights

Dear colleagues, the upcoming 7th edition of the established industry event European Work in Progress Cologne (EWIP), which will take place from October 14th to 16th 2024, will be accompanied by a high profile supporting program. There will be an informative panel, case studies as well as numerous one-on-one meetings with renowned members of the film industry surrounding the 15-minute pitch meetings of the 29 chosen film projects presented at EWIP. Participation is open for all accredited guests of EWIP.

The 60-minute panel “African-European synergies” will feature a discussion between industry experts regarding strategies to better market and position European films in Africa and vice versa. The panel is part of the “Focus on Africa“, which saw its first iteration at last year’s EWIP and will be continued in 2024 with three film projects hailing from Nigeria, Cameroon and Kenya. This year will also see the first edition of the African-European Distribution Academy (AEDA), a training program aimed at strengthening African and Euopean film distribution.

In addition there will be two case studies covering SMOKE SAUNA SISTERHOOD and ANATOMY

OF A FALL, both films supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, to give examples of successful marketing and distribution of European arthouse films and provide meaningful insights into future marketing strategies

Furthermore, there will be direct meetings arranged by EWIP to bring together producers with distributors, world sales or other supporters. EWIP promises innovative and succesful networking between leading colleagues of the international film industry.

Like in the previous years, the International Film Distribution Summit – IFDS, will take place directly after EWIP. IFDS will feature numerous talks and masterclasses by established industry experts covering film distribution, sales, marketing and production.

EWIP is significantly supported by the Film- and Medienstiftung NRW, one of the leading film funding institutions in Europe, the Creative Europe MEDIA programme of the European Union and the City of Cologne. It is thanks to the support of the Film- and Medienstiftung NRW that EWIP could be launched and has been able to establish itself in the European film industry over the past seven years.

The firmly established industry event also takes place in co-operation with the Film Festival Cologne, KölnBusiness as well as the Creative Europe Desks Germany and the International Film Distribution Summit – IFDS. Since its beginnings, EWIP has taken place in the run-up to the Film Festival Cologne (October 17th – 24th 2024).
