New Horizons picks up Béla Tarr's The Turin Horse and Wim Wenders' Pina for Polish distribution

    New Horizons Association, the organizer of the Era New Horizons IFF (21-31 July 2011), is the Polish distributor of two films that made a real impact at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival - Béla Tarr's The Turin Horse and Wim Wenders' Pina.

    Both films will be seen for the first time by audiences in Poland at the 11.Era New Horizons IFF, which will take place on 21-31 July 2011 in Wroclaw.

    Béla Tarr, who won the Silver Bear and the FIPRESCI award at the last Berlinale, is one of the Era New Horizons IFF audience's favourites - the 4th edition of the festival held a big retrospective of his works. The film will also get a Poland-wide release in cinemas and on DVD.

    "We always want to introduce the most interesting auteurs to the Polish audience. Bela Tarr is such director- I'm confident that the audience will be delighted with Turin Horse." said Roman Gutek, the Festival Director.

    Wim Wenders' Pina will have four screenings in 3D at the Era New Horizons IFF and then it will be released in Poland in a number of venues, including few opera houses.

    On Pina, mr. Gutek said: „We are honoured to pay this film tribute to a great artist. We will give the film the right attention and bring it to theatres and opera houses across Poland in style."

    New Horizons Association holds all Polish rights for the titles including DVD and TV.

    Era New Horizons International Film Festival, est. 2001, takes place in Wroclaw, Poland and it's one of the biggest film events in Central Europe (122 500 spectators in 2010). It presents uncompromising, innovative and original cinema from all over the world. The festival has 5 competitive sections and is accredited by FIPRESCI and by FIAPF as a Competitive Specialized Feature Film Festival.

    The festival also runs a distribution arm focused on cutting-edge arthouse cinema and guarantees Polish distribution to its winners. So far 13 titles were released both in cinemas and on DVD, among them Hunger by Steve McQueen, The Beaches of Agnès by Agnès Varda, Mundane History by Anocha Suwichakornpong, Le Quattro volte by Michelangelo Frammartino and Enter the Void by Gaspar Noé.
