VENICE: FNE spoke to Marcin Pienkowski from Nowe Horyzonty in Wroclaw, who is one of the trainers at the CICAE-International Confederation of Arthouse Cinemas Training, which took place from 28 August to 4 September 2022 on the island of San Servolo in Venice.

VENICE: Films produced or coproduced by Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina were selected for the Orizzonti Competition at the 79th Venice International Film Festival running 31 August – 10 September 2022.

KARLOVY VARY: Summer with Hope / Tabestan Ba Omid (Canada, Iran) directed by Sadaf Foroughi won the Crystal Globe Grand Prix at the 56th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival held from 1 to 9 July 2022 in Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary.

VENICE: Projects from Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia and Poland have been selected for the 9th edition of the Venice Gap-Financing Market, which will take place 2 - 4 September 2022 as part of the Venice Production Bridge, within the 79th Venice International Film Festival (31 August  - 10 September 2022).

KRAKOW: The main prizes of the 62nd Krakow Film Festival, taking place 29 May-12 June 2022, went to The Cathedral by Denis Dobrovoda, Hamlet Syndrome by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski, How Was the Year? by Jay Rosenblatt and Jan Kapr, and the documentary Opera by Lucie Králova.

PRAGUE: The 56th Karlovy Vary IFF, which takes place this year from 1 to 9 July 2022, has announced its competition lineup as it returns to its traditional beginning of July slot after two years of COVID cancellations and dates changes.

CANNES: The 75th Cannes Film Festival held 17-28 May 2019 awarded its top prize to Triangle of Sadness (Sweden, France, UK, Germany) directed by Ruben Östlund. The Polish/Italian coproduction EO directed by veteran Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski scored with the Jury Prize, which was awarded to the film ex-aequo with The Eight Mountains / Le Lotto Montagne (Italy, Belgium, France, UK) directed by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen.
