WROCLAW: German/Austrian/Romanian coproduction Toni Erdmann, directed by Maren Ade, made a clean sweep of the top prizes at the annual European Film Awards held in Wroclaw on 10 December 2016

TALLINN: The Israeli film A Quiet Heart directed by Eitan Anner has been awarded the main prize at the 20th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival held from 11 to 27 November 2016.

TALLINN:  The Latvian,/Lithuanian/Polish coproduction Foam At The Mouth / Ar putam uz lupam with director Janis Nords has won the Baltic Event Works in Progress best project award. The project is to be produced by Tasse Film, ArtBox , Madants.

VENICE: Director Lily Amirpour follows up her hit first film the vampire thriller A Girl Walks Home with The Bad Batch which screens in competition in Venice. 

VENICE: Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky returns to Venice with Paradise which screens in competition in Venice.  

VENICE: Director and writer Tom Ford once again shows himself to be a master of visual style in this haunting romantic thriller Nocturnal Animals that screens in the main competition in Venice with an exploration of the thin lines between love and cruelty, and revenge and redemption the startles with a plot of twists and turns, violence and beauty. 

VENICE: Serbian director Emir Kusturica’s On The Milky Road screens in competition at the Venice Film Festival with Kusturica filling the dual role of director and leading actor. 

The 73 Venice Film Festival opened literally on a high note with director Damien Chazelle’s musical extravaganza La La Land. 

BRUSSELS: The association of the European Film Agency Directors (EFADs) has issued a statement opposing proposals for Creative Europe budget cuts that face a critical vote today (11 October 2016) in the BUDG committee of the European Parliament.
