BERLIN: Romanian director Călin Peter Netzer won the Golden Bear in 2013 for his family drama Child’s Pose / Poziția Copilului. He returns to competition in Berlin with a complex study of love, mutual inter-dependency and mental illness Ana Mon Amour 

BERLIN: Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki arrives in Berlin with a story a Syrian refugee in Helsinki that could not be more topical with his The Other Side of Hope which screens in the main competition. 

BERLIN: Polish director Agnieszka Holland’s Spoor /  Pokot arrives in the main competition in Berlin with the considerable weight of Holland’s international reputation behind it not least her current stint directing the hit US TV series House of Cards.

PRAGUE: The 6th annual East Doc Platform (6-12 March 2017) awarded its top prize, the East Doc Platform Award for project development, to the Russian doc project The Provincial Town of E ! ! ! to be directed by Dmitry Bogolubov.

BERLIN: The Hungarian film On Body and Soul directed by Ildikó Enyedi won the Golden Bear for Best Film in the Main Competition at the 67th Berlinale International Film Festival 9-19 February 2017.

ZAGREB: Hrvoje Hribar has resigned his post as head of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) after a controversial report by the State Audit Office, that was widely seen as politically motivated.
