VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Giedrė Beinoriūtė is currently shooting Breathing into Marble, a Lithuanian/Croatian coproduction based on a novel by Laura Sintija Černiauskaitė. This is the debut feature of Beinoriūtė, whose documentary Conversations on Serious Topics / Pokalbiai rimtomis temomis (Monoklis) was selected as Lithuania’s bid for the 2013 Oscars.
VILNIUS: Henrik Hellstrom‘s futuristic drama 2060, a Swedish/Lithuanian coproduction, was shot in Lithuania from 10 to 19 August 2016. The tragicomic story takes place in 2060, in a nursing home for elderly people, where a newcomer Amanda has to realise what is important in life.
VILNIUS: Popular Lithuanian director Emilis Vėlyvis is completing postproduction on the thriller The Night Guards a.k.a. Wings. The film is a Russian production starring Leonid Yarmolnik and Ivan Yankovsky.
VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Arturas Jevdokimovas is in production with the docudrama Second Hand, a Lithuanian/Irish/Swiss coproduction. Principal photography is expected to wrap on 30 November 2017.
VILNIUS: The most esteemed Lithuanian filmmaker, Sharunas Bartas, is in production with Dovydo akmuo, a drama about love, hate and hope. This Lithuanian/French/Ukrainian coproduction is currently shooting in Lithuania with the premiere set for 2017.
VILNIUS: The Lithuanian Film Centre has distributed 316,060 EUR in grants to 17 films in its 2016 grants round. The grants will go to 14 projects for preproduction, two films for production and one minority coproduction.
VILNIUS: German production company Pantaleon Pictures GmbH (producers Dan Maag, Matthias Schweighöfer, Marco Beckmann) and local coproducer Lithuanian Film Studioio are shooting the German TV film Jack The Ripper about the unsolved mystery of the 19th century serial killer.
VILNIUS: Sharunas Bartas‘ film Peace to Us in Our Dreams won awards in five categories, including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Editing and Best Supporting Actress at the ninth Lithuanian Film and TV Silver Crane Awards held on 27 May 2016.
VILNIUS: The documentary El Padre Medico by director Vytautas Puidokas is in production. Principle photography began in March 2016 and will wrap in September.
VILNIUS: Castle Pictures of New York and local coproducer Baltic Film Services have started principle photography on the docudrama Pope Versus Hitler on locations around Vilnius for National Geographic.
