SARAJEVO: Sarajevo Film Festival and Balkan Documentary Center announced the five documentary projects in postproduction from Croatia, Hungary and Romania that will be presented as part of this year’s Docu Rough Cut Boutique.

SARAJEVO:The Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented at the EFP Producers on the Move for the second year in a row, with Zoran Galić selected for the 2017 honor.

SARAJEVO: Seven feature film projects in early development from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Turkey have been selected for Sarajevo Film Festival's CineLink Co-production Market this year.

SARAJEVO: In the wake of the 23rd edition of Sarajevo Film Festival, serious changes were announced aiming at enhancing synergies between the already existing segments – programming & industry (CineLink Industry Days) and training (Talents Sarajevo). The Board also announced a new programme, Competition Programme – Student Film.

The year 2016 started on an optimistic note for the film industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Death in Sarajevo by Danis Tanović, produced by SCCA/pro.ba in cooperation with Margo Films (France) and France 3 Cinéma, premiered in the 66th Berlin Film Festival’s International Competition, winning the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize. This success could not balance the negative trend of cutting down the production support in the country as the Film Fund allocated only 651,385 EUR for the development, production and coproduction support in 2016.

BELGRADE: First Films First program manager Stefan Arsenijević announced the launch of an online networking platform on 15 February 2017. The project, Meet the Scriptwriters, is a collaboration with Goethe Institute in Belgrade.

SARAJEVO: Serbian films once again were a great success in Bosnian cinemas in 2016. Two of them are among the ten most watched films in 2016: Military Academy 3, directed by Dejan Zečević and produced by Nira Pro with 17,947 admissions and 32,780 EUR / 64,112 KM gross and The Flock, directed by Nikola Kojo and produced by K-12 with 17,860 admissions and 36,876 EUR / 72,124 KM gross. They were distributed by Oskar Film and Continental Film, respectively.

ZENICA: Multiplex Ekran Zenica opened its doors and is organising free screenings for the citizens of Zenica as the heating system of the town broke down. With the support of distribution companies Una Film, Tropik, MegaCom Film BiH and Continental Film, viewers are welcomed with European films and warm tea.

SARAJEVO: Film Fund announced production and development grants for 2016. Over 650,000 EUR / 1,274,000 KM has been allotted to feature and short films, minority coproductions and for development. The list of projects includes new films by Jasmila Žbanić, Danis Tanović and Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

PRAGUE: MIDPOINT Feature Launch Workshop opened in Ponesice (Czech Republic) on 21 August 2016, as MIDPOINT opened applications for its TV programme MIDPOINT TV Launch, focusing on the development of miniseries and  TV series.
