TALLINN: Tanel Toom is currently in production with his debut feature Truth and Justice / Tõde ja õigus, which will be one of the five feature films made for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. The film is based on the pentalogy of the Estonian writer Anton Hansen Tammsaare, which is considered to be one of the major works of Estonian literature.

TALLINN: Acclaimed Estonian director Kaspar Jancis has just finished shooting his first long puppet animated film Morten and the Spider Queen aka Morten on the Ship of Fools. The 80-minute stop motion family adventure based on his own book Adventure on Salamander is an Estonian / Irish / Belgium / UK coproduction which will also have English and Gaelic versions.

TALLINN: Estonian director Rene Vilbre is currently shooting the Estonian version of the feature film Class Reunion 2: Wedding and Funeral, a sequel to Class Reunion, which had almost 190,000 admissions in 2016 and became the most viewed film of the independence era in Estonia.

TALLINN: Director Kaur Kokk finished the principal shooting of his debut feature The Riddle of Jaan Niemand in June 2017. The film, produced by Homeless Bob Production, is one of the five full-length features being made in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.

TALLINN: The End of the Chain by director Priit Pääsuke will have its world premiere at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the East of the West Competition. The film, produced by Marianne Ostrat from Alexandra Film, is the feature debut for both the director and the producer. The script is based on Paavo Piik’s stage play of the same name. KVIFF will run this year from 30 June to 8 July 2017.

TALLINN: Moonika Siimets finished shooting her debut feature The Little Comrade on 1 June 2017. The film is produced by Riina Sildos, the head of the production company Amrion. The script is written by Moonika Siimets, it is based on autobiographic novels Comrade Kid and Grown-Ups and Velvet and Sawdust by the beloved Estonian author Leelo Tungal.

TALLINN: Acclaimed Estonian director Veiko Õunpuu will start shooting his new film The Last Ones in August 2017 in Lapland. The film is produced by Homeless Bob Production and Bufo from Finland.

TALLINN: Pretenders has become the first Estonian film to sell remake rights, with a sale to one of the top French independent distribution and production companies, BAC films. The Estonian/Lithuanian/Latvian coproduction was directed by Vallo Toomla.
