TALLINN: North Star Film Alliance received a 2 m EUR grant from the European Union through the Interreg programme for a three-year project aiming at attracting international productions to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The project kicks off in February 2018.

ESTONIA: Lotte and the Lost Dragons / Lotte ja kadunud lohed, the third full length Estonian/Latvian coproduction featuring Estonia’s most popular animated character, is in production for release in 2019 in the frame of Estonia’s centennial film programme.

TALLINN: The Estonian Film Institute allotted 250,000 EUR in grants during the autumn 2017 sessions of documentary and minority coproduction. Six documentaries received production funding and nine received development funding. One animated film received minority coproduction funding.

TALLINN: Ülo Pikkov, born in 1976, represents Estonia at the Emerging Producers 2018 programme taking place at the Jihlava IDFF, running 22-27 October 2018.

TALLINN: The audiovisual endowment of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia allotted 243,115 EUR for film development and production in its third session of 2017.

TALLINN: The Estonian Film Institute allotted 178,000 EUR in its second animation session in 2017. Two animated film projects received production funding and two projects received development funding.

ESTONIA: The Spanish/Estonian coproduction Constructing Albert, directed by Laura Collado and Jim Loomis, is in the final stages of postproduction and preparing for its world premiere in the Culinary Zinema: Film and Gastronomy section of the 65th San Sebastian International Film Festival.

ESTONIA: Janno Jürgens starts shooting his debut feature Rain, a coming-of-age drama dealing with the clash between generations and set to premiere in late 2018. The director’s short film They Say Tomatoes Love Rock Music was nominated for an Estonian Film & Television Award in 2017.
