TBILISI: Eight titles have been selected for the International Competition section of the 8th edition of CinéDOC-Tbilisi, the most important documentary film festival in Georgia. The festival will take place from 30 August to 30 September 2020.

KUTAISI: Applications are open for the first edition of the Kutaisi International Short Film Festival, which will take place from 3 to 7 November 2020 in partnership with the Georgian National Film Center and the Kutaisi Municipality.

TBILISI: Georgian director Misho Antadze is currently in postproduction with the documentary Ozymandias. Seventy years after his death, the statues of Stalin still populate the Georgian landscape. Looking and listening for geopolitics past and present in everyday life, Ozymandias is an attempt at confronting the invisible forces of history.

TBILISI: Ukrainian/ American director Stanislav Kapralov is in postproduction with the horror film Let It Snow, which he shot in the Georgian Gudauri Mountains in the winter of 2019. The film serviced by the Georgian company FX Film was shot as part of the Film In Georgia programme benefitting from Georgia’s cash rebate system.

TBILISI: The first workshop of SeriesLab 2021 training course of TorinoFilmLab will be hosted by Tbilisi in partnership with the Georgian film company Millimeter Film. The call for applications will open from the beginning of December 2020 to 1 February 2021.

TBILISI: Georgian director Giorgi Chalauri is currently in preproduction with his first feature film Pit. The filming is planned for the winter of 2020-21. The producer is Giorgi Kobalia. Avto gets out of jail. Five years ago, he along with his friends got arrested during protests. The police regime in the country gave them a strict punishment to make an example out of the young rebels. Then-18-year-old Avto was thrown in jail and taken captive by the abusive system. His only motivation is to kidnap and get even with his case supervisor, a particularly cruel security officer named Enver.

TBILISI: The Georgian National Film Center distributed 202,898 EUR / 700,000 GEL for the coproduction of two International feature films to be directed by Dover Kosashvili and Elene Naveriani.

TBILISI: Georgian director/cinematographer Tato Kotetishvili is in preproduction with his first feature film Holy Electricity. The filming is planned for the autumn of 2021 in Tbilisi. The producers of the project are Irakli Metreveli and Tekla Machavariani.

TBILISI: Cinemas in Georgia will reopen in August, after three months of inactivity. Entertainment and cultural facilities in Georgia have been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 epidemic. From August 2020 cinemas will be able to fill half of their seats. It is still unknown how many viewers will be hosted by Amirani, Cavea Tbilisi Mall, Cavea East Pointe and Cavea Galleria Tbilisi and how many screens will work.

TBILISI: The Georgian National Film Center distributed 116,759 EUR / 396,982 GEL for the production of seven short fiction films directed by Irine Jordania, Nino Tsikaridze, Mikheil Kvirikadze, Nika Gabunia, Grigol Abashidze, Amiran Dolidze and Tornike Tikaradze. The winners were chosen from among 60 projects.
