TBILISI: Georgian director Alexander Koridze is currently in production with his long documentary Atonal Glow. The first shoot started in Tbilisi in July 2019. The project is funded by the GNFC and Koridze himself is the producer. The filming is underway and the premiere of the film is expected in 2021.

TBILISI: The 8th edition of CinéDOC-Tbilisi, which started on 30 August 2020, ended with the announcement of the winning films on 30 September. The festival is organised by the Noosfera Foundation.

KUTAISI: Fifteen films have been selected for the main competition of the inaugural edition of the Kutaisi International Short Film Festival, which will take place from 3 to 7 November 2020. The partners of the festival are the Georgian National Film Center and the Kutaisi Municipality.

TBILISI: FNE speaks with the six-member Georgian producers’ working group on production regulations regarding the serious problems that the Covid-19 crisis has created for the Georgian film industry, production and cultural representatives.

TBILISI: Georgian director Ekaterine (Keko) Chelidze is currently in pre-production with her first feature fiction film No More. The shooting is planned for the spring of 2021. The project was first presented internationally at the Budapest Debut Film Forum in September 2020.

TBILISI: Georgian director Akaki Shanshiashvili is currently in preproduction with the feature film Winter's Sorrow, based on the novels of famous Georgian writer Revaz Inanishvili. The film is produced by Vako Kirkitadze and Nikoloz Gugushvili through Film Asylum.

BATUMI: The 2020 Batumi International Art house Film Festival has been postponed until October due to the deterioration of the pandemic situation in the region. The management of the BAIFF made the decision based on consultations with state authorities. The exact date of the festival is yet unknown.

TBILISI: Georgia has made an effort to develop animation projects over the past decade, after 20 fallow years, finding some recent success at international festivals. FNE spoke with Mariam Kandelaki, Founder of the Georgian Animators Association (Saqanima) and Organiser of the International Animation Film Festival Nikozi, about the development of Georgian animation.

TBILISI: The BIAFF's industry platform Alternative Wave will take place during the festival, which runs 16-20 September 2020. The main focus of the 2020 Alternative Wave is to develop low budget feature film projects with the support of foreign and local experienced film industry specialists.

BATUMI: Nine titles have been selected for the International Feature Films Competition of the Batumi International Art house Film Festival, running 13-20 September 2020.
