BUDAPEST: The 9th edition of Budapest International Documentary Festival will screen 60 films between 21 and 29 January 2023. In addition to Budapest, there will be screenings in ten other Hungarian cities.

BUDAPEST: The Berlin-based outlet Films Boutique has picked up the post-apocalyptic animated sci-fi White Plastic Sky / Műanyag Égbolt directed by Sarolta Szabó and Tibor Bánóczki. The Hungarian/Slovak coproduction imagines, using rotoscope animation, a dystopian future when the remnants of humanity live in isolation under a huge glass dome in Budapest.

BUDAPEST: CineFest has grown into the best film festival in Hungary with hard work and a strong lineup year after year. The 18th edition, which will be held 9 – 17 September 2022 in Miskolc, will screen three Hungarian films including two world premieres in the competition programme.

BUDAPEST: Lajos Koltai, who had been nominated as cinematographer for an Academy Award for Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malena in 2001, started shooting a new film as a director on 19 July 2022. The romantic drama The Invisible Killer / A láthatatlan gyilkos follows a life-changing year from the life of doctor Ignác Semmelweis, also known as the „saviour of mothers”.

BUDAPEST: Filming of Dune: Part Two has begun in Budapest as it was announced on the film’s Facebook-page on 18 July 2022. Shooting in Budapest of this Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment production is handled by Mid Atlantic Films.

BUDAPEST: Hungarian director András Fésős is in postproduction with his sophomore feature Rise Up and Walk / Kelj fel és járj, starring Romanian actor Bogdan Dumitrache. The film tells the story of a father and son's difficult reunion, and it involves several spectacular firefighter rescues.
