BUCHAREST: Cristian Comeagă is in preproduction with the historical docu-drama series Romanians - The Story of a Nation / Românii – povestea unui neam, set to start shooting in June 2017.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Thirteen feature films and long documentaries together with fourteen short films will screen in the Romanian Days, the Romanian showcase of the 16th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) from 8 to 10 June 2017. The festival will run this year from 2 to 11 June.

BUCHAREST: Constantin Popescu's new feature, the family drama Pororoca, has been picked up by Wide Management and will be screened in the 2017 Cannes' Marché du Film. The film is a Romanian/French coproduction.

RIGA: Gints Grube got a BA in philosophy, did doctoral studies in political science and worked extensively in the media before becoming the director of Hansa Media production company and finally the co-owner and director of Mistrus Media in 2000.

BUCHAREST: Iuliana Tarnovețchi studied Psychology and in 1995 started working for Castel Film and Pro TV. She was Production Manager and Production Coordinator for MediaPro Pictures in 2000 - 2005, Head of Development and Head of Cinema, and also Executive Producer for MediaPro Pictures in 2006 - 2011. Her name is linked to dozens of films including Callas Forever by Franco Zeffirelli, Amen by Costa-Gavras and California Dreamin’ (Endless) by Cristian Nemescu.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Eight feature debut films are among the twelve films selected for the official competition of the 16th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF). The festival, which takes place 2 - 11 June 2017, will welcome Alain Delon and Sir Derek Jacobi as its special guests.

TIMIȘOARA: Ceau Cinema!, an independent film festival from the Romanian city of Timisoara and screening European productions, had the innovative idea of launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise additional funding.

BUCHAREST: Acclaimed Romanian helmer Radu Jude is set to start shooting his new feature film Is This What You Were Born For? with his regular producer Ada Solomon at Hi Film Productions in summer 2017. This Romanian/Czech/French/Bulgarian coproduction will tackle a delicate subject in Romanian history, the massacre of approximately 20,000 Jewish people by the Romanian army in Odessa in 1941.
