WARSAW: The shooting of the feature film Treasure / Skarbek, directed by Tomasz Jurkiewicz has just wrapped. This adventure film for children and young viewers is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

WARSAW: The BreakThru Films animation studio, known for Loving Vincent and Peter and the Wolf, is starting the shooting for a new project The Peasants directed by Dorota Kobiela, based on the novel by Nobel prize winner Władysław Stanisław Reymont.

WARSAW: HBO has obtained the rights to make a series based on the feature film The Hater directed by Jan Komasa. The series will be coproduced by the director, screenwriter and producers of the film.

WARSAW: Only 92,000 viewers visited Polish cinemas in June 2020, when the government allowed their reopening. The films cashed in 334,663 EUR /1.48 m PLN. In comparison, at the same time last year Polish cinemas reported 2.75 m admissions and 11 m EUR / 48.91 m PLN gross.

WARSAW: The fourth part of the Polish box office hit comedy series Kogel Mogel started shooting in Warsaw mid-July 2020 with plans of release in Polish cinemas in January 2021. Ilona Łepkowska is again the scriptwriter, but this time the director is Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz.

WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute supported five new feature projects during the second session of funding in 2020 with a total of 2,568,615 EUR / 11.5 m PLN.

GDYNIA: The hybrid 45th edition of the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia will take place from 9 to 14 November 2020. Film screenings will take place without the participation of the audience.

WARSAW: Łukasz Grzegorzek is working on his new drama Tak Ma Być starring Agata Buzek. The shooting will start in August 2020.

WARSAW: Barbara Pec-Ślesicka, production manager and long-time collaborator of Andrzej Wajda, died on 6 July 2020 at the age of 84. She supervised the production of the most important works in the history of Polish cinema, winning the 1983 BAFTA award for Danton.

WARSAW: Work has been resumed on The Republic of Children, a fantasy drama by Jan Jakub Kolski, after a break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
