The nominees for the 25th European Film awards were announced at Seville European Film Festival Saturday night. The best European film will be chosen on 1st December. The Black Nights FF presents fourteen nominated films in Tallinn starting in a week’s time already.
Michael Haneke’s „Love“ has been nominated for six awards. „The Hunt“ by Thomas Vinterberg and „Shame“ by Steve McQueen both compete for 5 awards. Nominated for the best film is also „Untouchables“ by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano that has enjoyed major success in cinemas throughout Europe.
All nominees for the best European film will also be screened in the Black Nights programme:
- Amour, director Michael Haneke
- Barbara, director Christian Petzold
- Caesar Must Die (Cesare Deve Morire), director Paolo and Vittorio Taviani
- The Hunt, director Thomas Vinterberg
- Shame, director Steve McQueen
- Untouchables, directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano

In 2010 the EFA award gala was held in Tallinn as an introduction to the Estonian capital's year as the European Capital of Culture 2011.
