Janis Amanis took the Best Actor award for his performance in the "Dream Team 1935" film.

Stanislavs Tokalovs' film "A Little Longer" won the Best Short Film award, and Peteris Krilovs' "Obliging Collaborators" - the Best Feature-length Documentary.

Davis Simanis' film "Chronicles of the Last Temple" won the Best Documentary up to 60 minutes long.

Signe Baumane's "Rocks in My Pockets" was awarded as the Best Animated Film. The film also earned Baumane the Best Screenwriter and the Best Animation Film director awards.

Juris Kursietis' feature film "Modris" won the Best Debut award.

Jekabs Nimanis was honored for Best Film Score for his work on the films "Mara" and "More than a Life".

34 films were nominated for "Lielais Kristaps", the films were evaluated by an international jury made up the Film Producers Association of Latvia representative Bruno Ascuks, Latvian Guild of Cinematographers representative Valdis Eglitis, FIPRESCI Latvia representative Anita Uzulniece, film directors Janis Streics and Andis Miziss, animator Roze Stiebra, Russian film critic Elena Stishova, German film journalist Jan Schulz-Ojala, and film theoretician and representative of the Norwegian Film Institute Jan Erik Holst.

From 2^nd to 11^th of November, the National Film Festival „Lielais Kristaps”, within the programme of Riga IFF, presented Latvian films that have been created during the last two and a half years. Film specialists have emphasized how remarkably impressive is the Panorama film programme of this edition. During the festival, the jury of “Lielais Kristaps” evaluated Latvian films and decided the prize-winners. The Awarding ceremony was held on 11^th of December and broadcasted on Latvian Television.

Riga, bearing the honour of Capital of Culture in 2014, will also host the European Film Awards ceremony on 13th of December, which serves as a great motivation for the local filmmakers to present the Latvian film in the international scene. Within the programme of the Riga IFF a list of significant film industry events took place: Latvian National Film Festival „Lielais Kristaps 2014”; the programme of the EFA nominees and European film retrospective; programme of Nordic Films for Children and Youth, the Russian documentary film festival ARTDOCFEST’s programme and Riga Film Museum’s programme „Cinema 1914”. To continue, film programmes designed especially for the RIGA IFF and an industry event for screenwriters provided by film festival „2 ANNAS”, as well as the copious festival industry’s programme „Riga Meetings” at The Latvian National Library by the National Film Center.

Modris is a normal 17-year-old with a girlfriend and some good pals at school. The code to unlocking this feature documentary is 1949, the year the director was born, and also the year of the return of Soviet repressions to Latvia. The film tells a very personal story against the background of less visited historic events – the death of director’s father due to the KGB repressions, which is closely linked to the devious game Soviet Latvia’s KGB played against Swedish-British-American spy agencies.
This film features the stories of people who, for various reasons, became players in this game. Several years were spent gathering unique documents, testimonies and materials detailing KGB accusations, and interviewing witnesses and experts to unmask one concrete episode of reprehensible Soviet deed.

This documentary deals with faith, human ageing, a struggle to fulfil your vision and above all - one particular building. In its poetical minimalism the film observes the construction of the new Latvian National Library, which has become a metaphor for a temple, a boiling-point for an entire nation. From an empty construction pit to the accomplished edifice, this visual symphony of cinematic images captures the whole process of creation. Besides two human characters, the chief architect and a jib crane operator are chosen to reveal the eternal conflict between the greatness of a conception and the inevitable sacrifice to realize it.
