Sarajevo Film Festival announces Work in Progress selection

    Five projects have been selected for the CineLink Work in Progress sessions, where key industry decision makers get a sneak peek at some of the most promising upcoming films from Southeast Europe.

    The Work in Progress sessions are tailor-made presentations open for specially invited guests who may engage in the projects completion or distribution. This year's sessions will be taking place on August 19-20, and scheduled to attend are representatives from Wild Bunch, The Match Factory, Pyramide, Memento, Fortissimo as well as the Cannes, Berlin, Sundance and Rotterdam film festivals, to name a few of the guests.

    The 2015 project lineup consists of three fiction projects, one animation and one documentary, selected from the festival's documentary workshop Docu Rough Cut Boutique.

    Korida/Korida (Austria) - documentary
    Directed by Siniša Vidović

    Ptice kao mi/Birds like us (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - animation 
    Directed by Faruk Sabanovic

    Two significant awards will be handed out to projects in the Work in Progress section: The Post Republic Award – in kind post production services worth EUR 50.000 and The Restart Award – in kind support worth EUR 20.000. 

    The jury selecting the 2015 Work in Progress winner consists of Tanja Meissner, Head of International Sales & Acquisitions, Memento Films, Khalil Benkirane, Head of Grants, Doha Film Institute and Tolke Palm, Producer, The Post Republic.

    A number of previous Work in Progress projects have made their mark on the festival circuit - recent ones includeBrides by Tinatin Kajrishvili, Toto and His Sisters by Alexander Nanau, Why Me? by Tudor Giurgiu and Mountain by Yaelle Kayam, and some examples from previous years are If I Want to Whistle I Whistle by Florin Serban (Jury Grand Prix Silver Bear and Alfred Bauer Prize, Berlinale 2010), Harmony Lessons by Emir Baigazin (Silver Bear, Berlinale 2013), Mold by Ali Aydın (Lion of the Future, Venice 2012), White Shadow by Noaz Deshe (Lion of the Future, Venice 2013).
