10th A Sunday in the Country in Wrocław will be held from August 14 till 17 during the 21th New Horizons IFF

    A collaboration of the New Horizons IFF and the European Film Academy (EFA), the 10th Sunday in the Country will gather a dozen young film critics from Europe for a retreat/workshop. The participants meet for 3 days in a remote country house near Wrocław (Willa Słoneczna on Bystrzyckie Lake at Zagórze Śląskie) where they get to know each other, watch films and discuss them, meet filmmakers brought of the New Horizons and talk about their profession and challenges of the post-pandemic world. They exchange their professional experiences and build international relations.

    For the 10th edition of the workshop 10 participants have been selected from 9 countries: Austria (Susanne Gottlieb), Belgium (Djia Mambou), Hungary (Lilla Puskas), Veera Jokinen (Finland), the Netherlands (Roosje van der Kamp), Romania (Alexandru Mircioi), Spain (Victor Esquirol Molinas) and Italy (Alice Catucci). The group includes also two Poles, winners of the Krzysztof Mętrak Contest for young film critics: Katarzyna Kabernik and Joanna Najbor.

    The participants will work and network under the guidance of the established Polish-Finnish critic, Marta Bałaga, as well as co-ordinators of the New Horizons Association and EFA. They will meet established filmmakers-guests of the New Horizons FF, including Jagoda Szelc, Burhan Qurbani, George Barbari and Itonje Guttormsen. 

    The event is supported by the Polish Film Institute, Austrian Cultural Forum, the Embassy of the Netherlands, Finnish Film Institute, Italian Cultural Institute, Hungarian Cultural Institute, Romanian Institute of Culture, Delegation of Wallonie-Bruxelles, Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales in Madrid and organized in collaboration with Krzysztof Mętrak Award for young critics.
