The Plus Camerimage Festival programme this year will abound in a wide variety of riveting film
themes. The Festival's repertoire will include regular programme items such as Main
Competition, Polish Films Competition, Student Etudes Competition, workshops, seminars,
modern film equipment and technologies presentations as well as meetings with eminent
cinema personalities. As every year, attendees will be treated to the honorary laureates' oeuvre
and the European film industry achievements, including those of Poland. Within the section of
documentary films both short and feature length documentaries will be screened and will
compete in two categories, where the festival's as well as the patron's awards will be granted.
Music Videos Competition will present music videos from all over the world which have been
selected due to their visual and aesthetic values of an image.
OPENING CEREMONY OF THE FESTIVAL
Opening Ceremony of the Festival will take place on Saturday, November 28th, and will feature a
premiere screening of the film GET LOW with participation of the director Aaron Schneider, the
cinematographer David Boyd, the producer Dean Zanuck, representatives of Polish co-production
company, TVN: Dariusz Gąsiorowski and Justyna Pawlak as well as Polish executive producer,
Konrad Wojterkowski, who will introduce the movie to the audience. Furthermore, GET LOW will be
the first film screened within Plus Camerimage 2009 Main Competition.
THE FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHT
PRESENTATION OF FRANK GEHRY'S CONCEPT DESING
World famous American architect, an author of the design for Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao or Walt
Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, will visit the Festival and present his Concept Design for
Camerimage Łódź Center, a new festival and congress facility to be built in the New Łódź City Center,
next to the David Lynch Studio. Frank Gehry will present the design and together with the Festival
Director, Marek śydowicz, will ceremonially unveil the models of Camerimage Łódź Center - a unique
complex giving Plus Camerimage Festival an opportunity to concentrate all the elements of the Festival
programme in the one and only place!
MAIN COMPETITION
Main Competition: Over 200 films were submitted to the Competition. Eventually, seventeen films of high visual
values, produced in 2008 and 2009, were chosen to be screened. International Jury consisting of: Allan Starski
(production designer - Europa, Europe, Schindler's List, The Pianist, Oliver Twist), Dean Cundey
(cinematographer - Halloween, Back to the Future, Apollo 13, Jurassic Park), Anastas Michos (cinematographer
- Duplex, The Education of Little Tree, Man on the Moon, Mona Lisa Smile), Edward Lachman (cinematographer
- Erin Brockovich, Far from Heaven, I'm not there, The Virgin Suicides), Igor Luther (cinematographer - The Tin
Drum, Danton, Handmaid's Tale, Resolution 819) and Phil Meheux (cinematographer - Goldeneye, The Mask of
Zorro, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness) will choose the winners of Bronze, Silver and Golden Frog - Grand Prix
of the Festival.

POLISH FILMS COMPETITION
Polish Films Competition under the patronage of Plus network operator: This section of PLUS
CAMERIMAGE will present 8 recent Polish films produced in 2009. During the Festival, selected movies will be
judged by members of an international Jury: Amy Vincent (cinematographer: Eve's Bayou, Hustle & Flow)
Bruno Delbonnel (cinematographer: Amelie, A Very Long Engagement), Tony Pierce-Roberts
(cinematographer: Howard's End, The Remains of the Day), Roberto Schaefer (cinematographer: Finding
Neverland, 007 Quantum of Solace), Umberto Rossi (film critic) and Frederick Elmes (cinematographer: Coffee
and Cigarettes, Night on Earth, Blue Velvet). Both the cinematographer and the director of the best Polish film will
be granted during the Closing Gala of the Festival. The aim of the competition is to confront our domestic
productions with the opinion of foreign artists, professionals and other experts.
