FNE at Sarajevo IFF 2014: CineLink Expands into Middle East and Mexico

    SARAJEVO: The main industry event of the Sarajevo International Film Festival, CineLink, offering over 160,000 EUR in cash and in services, is expanding into new territories.

    This year, three guest projects, outside of Southeast Europe and the Caucasus region and in partnership with the Doha Film Institute, IMCINE and the Arab Fund for Arts & Culture are included in the CineLink 2014 selection list.

    House Without Roof by writer/director Soleen Yusef, a Kurdish-German coproduction, produced by Mîtosfilm, supported by Kurdistan Regional Government Iraq and German Arte is about three siblings born in the Turkish part of Iraq but raised in Germany. Mehmet Aktaş said that his main aim in Sarajevo is “to get in contact with a coproduction partner for European funding and broadcast”.

    Operation: Baby by Mexican writer/director/producer José Luis Valle is a dramatic story dedicated to Salvadoran guerilla fighters. According to Valle, co-owner of his Mexico based company Fogata Audiovisual, CineLink could help him “in finding coproducers and sales agents”.

    To All Naked Men by Syrian writer/director Bassam Chekhes and producer Bassam Chekhe Production is treating the war in Syria in a personal way. Chekhes, who is based in Amsterdam, said that his aim is “to collaborate with partners from Central and Eastern Europe.”

    CineLink is presenting 14 projects from Southeastern Europe in the CineLink and CineLink Plus sections.
