The story follows the path of the young Azad, а Kurd from Iraq who travels through Bulgaria in order to reach his fiancée waiting for him in Germany. Donchev told FNE that his aim was to show “the point of view of an open-minded young man from Kurdistan, Iraq, who wants to have a quiet life, to love and to be loved. Unfortunately, political passions do not allow this.”
The leading actors are Soran Enrahim, a Kurd from Iraqi Kurdistan, and a Bulgarian actress Violeta Markovska. The cast includes actors from Macedonia and Turkey. The film was shot in Bulgarian, Kurdish, Arabic, English and German during the spring of 2014 in Bulgaria, Iraqi Kurdistan, Macedonia, Cyprus and Turkey .
The DoP is Ivan Tonev, who also produced the film through his company Ars Digital in coproduction with Macedonia’s KT Film&Media, Romania’s Peter Film Production, HawenaFilms and the Kurdistan Regional Government, Iraq. The Bulgarian National Film Center supported the film.
