The story is set in a seemingly idyllic village in Cyprus in the 1980s and focuses on a 12-year-old boy Socrates, who finds himself involved in a murder investigation. As he looks for clues, he uncovers evidence linking those he loves to the crime. These findings make him question his own identity, and will surely turn the peaceful life he led until now upside down. The film is based on the novel The Land of The Golden Apple by Eve Makis.
“We follow Socrates in a thrilling and perilous journey of self-discovery as he learns the meaning of love, family loyalty and courage,” Charalambous said, adding that the love and commitment of all the crew and actors transformed the difficult and demanding process of making the film into an exciting and challenging adventure.
The film was produced by AMP Filmworks with a budget of 680,000 EUR. Shooting took place from June until the end of July 2015. The film was mainly supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Yiannakis Papadouris Foundation. The Cyprus premiere is set for Cyprus Film Days 2017.
