CT:D, launched in September 2013, is proving hugely popular with Czech children viewers, reaching a 21.68 % share of viewers between 4 and 12 years or age. It has the highest share among all European public children channels, the most popular of them currently having a share of approximately 16 %.
The channel is present at the European Film Market in Berlin as a part of the Czech stand.
“I am glad the organizers of Berlinale decided this year to open the door for television production. For Czech TV it is a great chance to show foreign partners what the success of our children’s channel is based on and that Czech television continues in the tradition of a very high standard of production for children,” said Petr Dvorak, the director of Czech TV.
Czech TV children production has traditionally been Czech TV’s best selling product. The Czech TV catalogue contains more than 200 programmes for children, both animation and feature titles. “I expect the foreign partners to be mainly interested in animation and drama series, traditionally the most successful,” said Petr Koliha, executive director of CT :D.
