The project is focused on young people between 18 and 34 years old, aiming to find out about their interests and attitude towards media, career, religion, politics and other socio-cultural phenomena of the present.
A long documentary, The Generation Ypsilon by Ivana Pauerová, will be one of the results of the project. The expert sponsor and partner of Generation What? is the Sociological Institute of the Czech Republics’ Science Academy.
“The members of this generation will soon be the ones deciding about the future of our country, creating the majority of our labour force. We don´t know much about them though. The aim of the project is to change this by letting them create their self- portrait, speak about themselves, their families, friends, future, threats and desires,” said Alena Müllerová, head of the creative group responsible for the project.
“Statistics prove that this generation spends more than 3,000 hours a year in front of the computer, tablet or smart phone. They all use the internet and 90% of them are active in social networks. That´s why the starting point of the project is an interactive web questionnaire,“ she adds.
The project will be joined internationally by the public media of France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Luxemburg, The Netherlands, Wales and Greece.
