PRAGUE: The Czech/Slovak/Polish/Serbian coproduction Restore Point / Bod obnovy by Robert Hloz was sold by XYZ Films to Germany, Switzerland, France, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand at the Cannes’ Marché du Film, where it was selected among the Fantastic 7 genre films.

Set in the year 2041, the story revolves around a new constitutional law that guarantees the citizens “one whole life to live”, a law which was approved by the Free European Federation.

“For me sci-fi is appealing because it explores thoughts and ideas mirroring our current etiquette, morality and lifestyle. Although the story happens in the near future, its origins lie in the present situation in Central Europe, reflecting upon a widespread fear that helps governments to take firmer control over these countries”, Robert Hloz told FNE during the postproduction stage in July 2022.

Czech media is comparing the film with Blade Runner, according to Prague Reporter. Restore Point will be released in the Czech Republic on 23 September 2023.

Hloz’s debut feature was produced by Jan Kallista through FILM KOLEKTIV (Czech Republic) and coproduced by Rastislav Šesták through DNA production (Slovakia), Stanislaw Dziedzic through Film Produkcja (Poland), Danilo Beckovic through Mali Budo (Serbia) and the Czech Television.

The project was supported by the Czech Film Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the Polish Film Institute and Film Center Serbia.
