Fox Establishes Estonian Company

By FNE Staff
TALLINN: FOX International Channels (FIC) annouonced on 9 March 2011 the founding of FOX International Channels Estonia OÜ, a Tallinn-based regional headquarters servicing the Baltic region. The new company will handle operations and programming for FIC's Baltic channels: FOX Life, FOX Crime, and National Geographic Channel.

FIC is a branch of News Corporation (www.newscorp.com) focused on the production and international distribution of pay TV channels, content and digital services for Internet and mobile outlets.

The move continues Fox's strategy of localizing services. In June 2009, the company launched a local ad sales and marketing arm in Tallinn, managed by Karoli Hindriks. In December 2010, Hindriks was hired as FIC's Regional Manager for the Baltic states. She reports to Ase Ytreland, Managing Director of Fox International Channels for Nordic & Baltic Region.

"In January 2011 Fox Life, Fox Crime and National Geographic Channel reached almost 700,000 households in Estonia alone, and held close to 5% audience share in the female 18-49 target. We look at these numbers and realize there is significant appetite in the region for well programmed andlocally marketed television. We're already a significant provider of this type of quality content and believe that through increased local presence, we can satisfy our audiences even further," Hindriks said in a statement.
