    FESTIVALS: BIAFF Grand Prix award goes to In Darkness In Darkness

    BATUMI: Agnieszka Holland's Oscar nominated In Darkness won the main award at the 7th Batumi International Art-House Film Festival (www.biaff.org).

    The BIAFF speacial award for lifetime achievement went to Hungarian director Bela Tarr (Turin Horse, The Man From London) who was the honourable guest of the festival. Bela Tarr also led a master class for young Georgian Filmmakers during BIAFF

    • Best Actor –  Alireza Aghakkhani  -   The Last Step, Ali Mosaffa
    • Best Actress – Golshifteh Farahani -   Chicken with Plums, Marjane Satrapi & Vincent
    • Jury Special Prize  -  House with Turret, Eva Neyman

     

    International Doc Film Competition 

    • Best Doc Film - Argentinian Lessons, Wojciech Staron, Production: Staron Film, Poland, 2011
    • Jury Special Prize -  Reluctant Revolutionary, Sean McAllister

     

    International Short Film Competition Section

    • Best Short Film  -  Watermelon, Tato Kotetishvili, Production: PWSFTviT (www.filmschool.lodz.pl) / Zango Design, Georgia, 2012
