Georgia chooses Street Days for Oscar bid

    Georgia has selected the film Street Days directed by Levan Koguashvili as the country's entry for the Oscar Best Foreign Language Film Award.

    Street Days, filmed in the Georgian capital city Tbilisi, tells the story of a 45 year old drug addict facing the most important choice of his life.

    The film won the best film award at the Wiesbaden GoEast Film Festival, and was awarded a Critic's Jury Tolerance Award at the European Film Festival at Palić, Subotica, Serbia. The film was nominated at the Tiger Awards competition at the 39th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

    The film is a production of Independent Film Project and Moving Pictures (www.streetdays.ge). The Georgian National Film Center (http://gnfc.ge) supported the film with €220,000 in public funding. The total budget of the film was €550,000.

    Street Days has been distributed in Russia, USA and Canada.
